On the con side of Printique, based on the images online, the Printique photobooks do not appear as minimalist/modern as the other options. Thoughts? The other vendors I am considering are Artifact Uprising (because a photographer friend highly recommended as beautiful, minimalist, high quality and easy to use) and Printique (because you recommend it especially because of the Silver Halide printing (though I’m not clear on whether that style of printing makes a difference with iPhone photos, does it?) and I also like the “lay-flat” premium soft cover option that Printique offers. Correct? I am leaning towards MILK over Mimeo because MILK seems to have more options and appears to be better quality overall. I am trying to decide between the following vendors: Mimeo or Milk Books – because they are both Apple-friendly and their apps would make it simple to populate the books with my photos on iPhoto. I have narrowed my options to a few vendors. I plan to make several albums – some fancier than others but would like all to have a similar feel and the ability to label the spine.

Make sure to have the latest version of the app and Apple Photos for optimal workflow. When I first used the extension, it was a bit slowish but since then I upgraded my Mac and now it is flawless and very quick. If you are an Apple user and you keep your photos in the Apple library, it is very convenient since you don’t even have to leave the app and you don’t need to worry about exporting/uploading your photos. The Apple extension works exactly like the online editor but you can edit/enhance photos using Apple Photos’ extensive tools. It is very easy to use, with the drag and drop feature you can create a book in 15 minutes. If you’re looking for a scrapbook style photo book with lots of stickers and funky/decorated layouts, this editor is not for you. Add it to your basket and order it! Most of the layouts are very clean and minimalist.
When you’re happy with your book, make sure to preview it, address any quality warnings like the red exclamation mark for low res photos. You can add/move text too so it’s a lot less limited than the Apple editor was. In the main window you can transform photos boxes, make them smaller/larger, change aspect ratios and move them freely. You can drag photos from the Photos tab, add basic borders from the Borders tab, add and edit text from the Text tab, apply layouts (single page or spread) from the Layouts tab and select from a wide range of background colours and patterns.
You can change the book type or theme at any time during the editing process so you’re not stuck if you change your mind. In the main window you see the page you’re editing, in the bottom tab you can navigate and organise your pages and in the right tab you have your tools and setting. You can only do this from your computer or phone, Mimeo Photos can not access Facebook or Instagram at the moment. They offer 45+ stylish themes, after selecting one you have to upload your photos. You have to select a book type first, then the editor opens. You can access the online editor from the Mimeo Photos website.
